Tips for foundation application:
- Starting at the centre of the face, blend foundation out and down. This technique means less product will be applied to the jaw-line and will eliminate the dreaded demarcation line.
- To complete your flawless complexion, pressed powder is recommended as it extends the wear of your foundation and controls any unwanted shine.
* Different application methods mean a different end result to your look.
- A foundation brush provides the fullest coverage and is the most hygienic tool.
- Using finger tips will give the least coverage but is great if you are in a hurry.
- Finally a sponge provides a medium coverage. Sponges often absorb a lot of extra product and bacteria, therefore dispose of sponge after second use.
Wash your makeup brushes and sponges using hair shampoo and warm water at least once a week. Gently massage shampoo from the roots of the bristles to the tips ensuring that they water runs down the bristles. Lay flat to dry.
Concealer application:
- Concealers that cover, such as Line Smoothing Concealer are ideal for blemishes, pigmentation and any other noticeable flaw on the face. These concealers are applied after your liquid foundation to reduce the area looking cakey or chalky from excess product. (Quite often your liquid foundation will cover most areas of concern so only a little concealer is needed).
- * Correctors, such as Almay Bright Eyes Eye base / concealer are different as they often have little or sheer coverage as they are designed to correct a flaw such as dark circles under the eyes. Due to their illuminating quality, correcting concealers can be applied before or after foundation.
Smokey eyes
- Apply the lightest shade of eye shadow over the entire lid up to the brow bone.
- Then, apply the medium shade from lash line all over the eye socket.
- Next, follow with eyeliner going along the top lash line, thickening at the outer corner.
- Blend the darkest shade into the outer corner of the eye and along the crease for definition – remembering to blend the dark shade into the light so you can’t detect where one starts and one stops.
- Now apply liner to the lower lashes as close to the lash line as possible – then smudge.
- Finishing with lashings of mascara to enhance your look.
