What is meant by 'natural'?
An ingredient may be considered natural if it originates in nature or is ultimately sourced from nature, is minimally processed as described below, and is not chemically synthesized. Ingredients that originate in nature include botanical, marine, BSE-free animal, non-pathogenic microorganisms and mineral substances. Ingredients may not be obtained other than from: filtration, distillation, extraction, centrifugation, adsorption, hydrolysis, hydrogenation, calcining (heat-processing) or esterification of fats, oils, waxes, lecithin, lanolin, mono-, oligo- and polysaccharides and lipoproteins, or enzymatic and fermentation methods. Extraction may be carried out with water, CO2, ethyl alcohol, and other naturally-derived solvents. Water shall be considered natural. Ingredients may not contain non-natural solvents, stabilizers, preservatives or processing aids.
What is meant by 'recyclable'?
Recyclable material is a category of material that is feasible to recycle. Since cosmetic packages are generally not practical or economical to recycle, the use of recycled material is of greater benefit to the environment than recyclable material.

What is the difference between teenage and adult acne?
Most teenagers experience some degree of acne with or following puberty, usually preceded by clogged pores that are both open (blackheads) and closed (whiteheads). Adult acne often occurs as isolated breakouts, usually in the chin area and related to the menstrual cycle and hormonal changes. It can manifest by deeper lesions or cysts. Many women will experience adult acne at some point between ages 25 and 50.
Can cosmetics help my acne-prone skin?
Acne-prone individuals need to select skin care and cosmetic products that are non-comedogenic to insure that they will not aggravate their acne. Some products which contain active ingredients such as salicylic acid can actually help treat existing acne at the same time that they provide overall skin care and cosmetic function.
Why is it important that my face makeup be non-comedogenic?
Clogged pores (called "comedones") precede acne. A product that has been tested to be non-comedogenic should not clog pores and will help minimise the potential for breakouts.
How can salicylic acid help my skin?
Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid that can normalise skin turnover in a similar way to alpha hydroxy acids, but with less irritation. It can act as a mild exfoliant in areas of thickened or rough skin. Salicylic acid has been shown to unclog pores, have anti-inflammatory effects on acne lesions and help to clear existing acne.
Why is it so important to wear SPF products with UVA/UVB sun protection?
Most people are exposed to ultraviolet light during the normal course of the day, not just when they're out on a beach. Taking a walk, driving in a car, or going outside at lunchtime are all times someone can be exposed to harmful UVB and UVA rays. UVB rays, the most intense ultraviolet light, cause sunburn and most skin cancers. Longer wavelength UVA radiation is known to significantly contribute to premature skin aging. Although less intense, significant UVA is present in the atmosphere all day long and all year round. It even penetrates through window glass.

SPF is a measure of UVB protection. The pigments present in makeup can be particularly helpful in blocking UVA. Daily moisturisers and colour cosmetic products with sunscreen provide a simple and effective means to protect oneself on a daily basis.
